It's official the 2023 Australian boat show train left the station back in May and has ramped up for what has been a big few months across the Australian East Coast as it moves its way down from Queensland through Sydney in August and finally stopping in Melbourne in October. It has been great to see a keen interest across the public and exhibitors to once again display the best on and off water attractions.
The first stop recently focused on the 34th edition of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS). This year’s SCIBS was supported by glorious Queensland weather delivering an abundance of sunshine and boasting an array of impressive stats in the last week of May. Over four action-packed days, SCIBS 2023 attracted 47,345 visitors who flocked from all over the globe to view thousands of marine products, and an impressive 740 vessel line-up, including an all-time record of 315 boats on water and over 100 Australian, Asia-Pacific and World premieres.
d’Albora had an impressive on water display highlighting our 10 prime marinas and 6 boatyard locations and facilities across our network, as well as a range of Azimut Yachts and Monterey Boats through d’Albora Marine. It was great to see so many members, customers and friends on the stand enjoying a laugh and a good chat with the team. We saw some strong leads right across the board on all business fronts, however the on water display of Azimuts and Montereys were impressive, resulting in the sale of an Azimut S6 Sportfly (60ft). Next year’s show dates have already been confirmed for, 23rd -26th May 2024, so lock it in your diary.

The Sydney International Boat Show (SIBS) ran 3rd - 6th August at Sydney’s Cockle Bay Marina and International Conference Centre (ICC) in Darling Harbour. This year’s show continued to build from last year’s successful event after the Covid closure and shed some much-needed light back onto the marine industry. Always a key show for d’Albora, we had a large turnout of members visit the stand to talk to staff or enjoy an afternoon beverage or two. This year was no different; we had a large presence on the floating marina highlighting our network offerings, as well as some amazing vessels. These included two brand new Azimut Yachts, the 53’ Flybridge (Australian Premier) and a brand new Italian delivered 60’ Flybridge with many of the options ticked, making it one of the best fitted out vessels d’Albora Marine has delivered and ready for immediate purchase. We were fortunate enough to have four days of fantastic weather with strong crowds taking it all in.
Next year’s show: 1st – 4th August 2024.

Entry is FREE for the public. Stay tuned for more on this event as it draws closer with the inclusions of an afternoon event at Victoria Harbour Marina for our members and guests. The team will be highlighting the entire d’Albora network, so put these dates in your diary, come down, say hello and enjoy the show.

The completion of MA Financial Groups (MA) acquisition of Australia’s largest premium marina network is due to complete in fourth quarter of 2024. This is exciting news for d'Albora as it provides significant opportunities for all members and stakeholders as we embark on a collective strategy to grow by adding additional marinas to the network, establishing further boatyard facilities and expanding operations to provide additional services and enhanced experiences to customers. As a cornerstone investor, Balmain will continue to be actively involved in the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of d'Albora. This will enable continuity of management and operations of d’Albora in a “business as usual” environment after the acquisition. MA is a diversified financial services firm specialising in managing alternative assets, lending, corporate advisory and equities with a strong focus on growth and innovation and currently have over $8 Billion in assets under management. We all look forward to this next chapter in d'Albora’s growth and its continued position as Australia's largest premium marina network.
Those who frequent Sydney Harbour or Pittwater have likely encountered Peter, or at the very least, recognised his distinctive laugh resonating from a marina arm. A lifelong marine enthusiast, Peter's passion for boating and its associated lifestyle propelled him into the profession as a certified shipwright.
Since entering the marine industry in 1985, Peter has assumed various roles. Not only has he worked as a shipwright, but he has also held operational positions at RMYC Newport and d’Albora. He first began with d’Albora in 1990 as a Dockmaster at Akuna Bay and has since gone on to become the NSW Regional Marina Manager. This role really allows Peters personality to shine as he oversees all operational aspects across d’Albora’s largest market within the Sydney basin, managing four large marinas on a daily basis.
Peter’s knowledge and experience is paramount to the d’Albora brand and customer service focus. He has mentored many other d’Albora staff on their own journeys within the industry and is a fantastic leader. He continues his infinity for the ocean and can be seen on his days off sailing on Pittwater or enjoying a wave or two at some of the Northern Beaches best breaks. In 2011 Peter, achieve CMM Golden Status as a Certified Marina Manager, the highest industry standard.
Cooking with style.
Serves 4
In a bowl, combine the diced beef, chilli paste, shallots, chives and olive oil. Season with salt.
Using a medium round pastry cutter, divide the mixture between 4 plates, pressing the mixture into the cutter each time to form a nice even circle.
Top each one with your choice of a soft-boiled quail egg, or a fresh egg yolk.
Ganish with some foraged leaves or soft herbs.
We serve this with potato crisps, but it can also be served with lavosh or toasted bread.
In a saucepan over medium heat, add oil and diced tomatoes. Cook them until all liquid from the tomatoes has evaporated. Add chilli paste, tomato paste, and brown sugar, cook for a further 10 minutes on low heat. Transfer to a blender and blend till very smooth. Transfer to a container, allow to cool and refrigerate.
